Our main efforts are with the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF), sourcing from responsible fisheries, and participating in numerous councils & organizations for fisheries management. ISSF: Clover Leaf is a founding member of this global foundation focused on tuna sustainability (tuna constitutes 55% of Clover Leaf’s sales). The foundation is unique in bringing together industry, science, and environmental groups to produce practical, meaningful solutions to sustainability challenges.
We also seek third-party recognition and certification of the fisheries from which we source, and work to continuously improve fisheries through Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) and direct partnerships. In 2019, Clover Leaf Seafoods commenced support of Ocean Outcomes to Improve Longline Tuna Fisheries in the South Pacific Ocean. All Clover Leaf Wild Salmon are sourced from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified fisheries.
In 2015, Clover Leaf launched the Trace My Catch initiative, enabling consumers to track the source of their seafood from catch to can by entering a code found on the package. This allows us to ensure food safety and verify that seafood entering our supply chain is legally harvested and meets all our sustainable sourcing commitments.
